The Kazakh-German University was founded in 1999 on the private initiative of the public foundation 'The Kazakh-German Cooperation in Education' with the aim of training specialists to a German standard. Today, DKU is the only German university in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. In 2004 the university passed successfully certification by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MES RK) and the German Academic Exchange Service confirming high quality of training at DKU. At the same time, we received a special permit from the MES RK to implement the German educational programmes. Since 2007, within the framework of various projects, the Kazakh-German University (DKU) has received financial support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (AA). The aim of the project is to support the development of DKU and to strengthen the university's cooperation with its partners in Germany. Education at the Kazakh-German University can be obtained at three faculties: "Engineering and Information Technology", "World Politics" and "Economics and Entrepreneurship". German, English and Kazakh languages are mandatory subjects of curriculum at DKU. The third year students will have the necessary level of German language for classes conducted by lecturers and professors from Germany, and the fourth year students can participate in «Double Degree» programme. Language Training & Certification Institute of DKU enables you to make your language learning effective. There is a possibility of a 1-year study in Germany for our students under the «Double Degree» programme. Upon completion of the program graduates receive both German and Kazakhstani diplomas. A good knowledge of the German language and a high level of academic performance in all subjects are mandatory to apply for the programme. DKU has partner universities in Germany under the «Double Degree» programme; • University of Applied Sciences Hamburg — partner of DKU on the educational programme «Energy and Environment Engineering», (ВА); • University of Applied Sciences Mittweida — partner of DKU on the educational programme «Management of companies and enterprises», (ВА); • University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden — partner of DKU on the educational programme «Information Engineering in Economics' (ВА); • Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau — partner of DKU on educational programmes «Transport logistics», «Production logistics» (ВА) and «Telematics», (ВА); • University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz — partner of DKU on educational programmes «Marketing» (ВА) and «Finance» (ВА). • Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences — partner of DKU on the educational programme «International relations» (ВА).
