Kaskelen - is a city and the administrative center of the Karasai district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan. It is located in the foothills of the Zailiysky Alatau, on the Kaskelen River of the same name, 10 km from the border of the city of Almaty. The population of the city is 81,850 people.
It is the center of a suburban vegetable and dairy farm. Vegetable canning, dairy, brick and other factories operate in the city.
