Petropavlovsk

Petropavlovsk - is a city in the north of Kazakhstan, the administrative center of the North Kazakhstan region, located in the southwestern part of the West Siberian Plain. It is the northern regional center of Kazakhstan, located 40 km south of the Russian border and 428 km north of Astana. The population of the city is 221,902 people.

Petropavlovsk was founded in the summer of 1752 as a military fortress of St. Peter and is located in the Kyzyl-Zharsky Gorge on the right bank of the Ishim River. Initially considered a military outpost, it was the largest trading center in the north of the Kazakh Khanate.

Today, the city is focused on the production of drilling and heavy machinery for oil companies, as well as other industries.

The beautiful nature of Petropavlovsk, interesting recreation and entertainment centers, historical monuments, including the residence of Abylai Khan (museum complex), a collection of merchants, house museums, ancient mosques, the Kyzyl Zhar mosque, the Temple of All Saints, the Temple of the Sacred Heart, various monuments and etc.
