Zhezkazgan Baikonurov University is the only multidisciplinary higher education institution in Zhezkazgan-Ulytau region, thus the principle part of the developed model of the university is to solve the problems of personnel training and scientific support of this region. It is also necessary to take into account that the mining industry, which is typical for the region, is a priority for the industrial-innovative development of Kazakhstan. The mission of the University is to educate highly qualified professionals who are competent in creating and strengthening the innovative potential of the region and the country. As part of ZhezU there are Humanitarian and Pedagogical and Mining and Technological Institutes. In 2021, the Humanitarian Pedagogical and Mining Technological Institutes were merged. ZhezU trains bachelors and masters in 27 educational programs. Over the past 5 years ZhezU has established comprehensive cooperation with such international organizations and programs as: - "Senior Experten Service" (Senior Expert Service), Germany; "Mevlana"; Erasmus+; educational programs on academic mobility funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Today, Zhezkazgan University cooperates with 15 international higher institutions and organizations from leading countries of the world, such as Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. ZhezU students and teachers undergo international academic mobility at leading universities in Turkey, Spain, Latvia, and Lithuania. ZhezU is a scientific center of the Zhezkazgan region and a team of university researchers has entered the international level by concluding cooperation agreements with leading scientists from Turkey and Russia in the field of engineering.
