Arkalyk

Arkalyk is a city of regional subordination in the Kostanay region, the former administrative center of the Turgay region. Founded in 1956, received city status in 1965. The population of the city is 41,371 people.

Currently Arkalyk is one of the most depressed cities in Kazakhstan with a high level of unemployment. There is practically no industry in the city, with the exception of enterprises that provide the city's life and management of the Turgai bauxite ore, which is part of the structure of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC.

The sights of Arkalyk are the Palace of Culture, the Museum of Local Lore, the Theater of the Young Spectator, cinemas, monuments to historical figures, shopping centers.
