Dzhezkazgan

Dzhezkazgan - city in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Until May 1997, it was the center of the later abolished Zhezkazgan region. Now the regional center of the Ulytau region. One of the largest centers of metallurgy in the country. The climate is semi-desert (sharply continental), dry. The population of the city is 88,812 people.

The basis of the city's industry is non-ferrous metallurgy. One of the country's copper processing plants "Zhezkazgantustimet" is located here.

The main sights of Zhezkazgan are located outside the city. Near the "Copper Capital" there are several mausoleums of the Mongol and Kazakh khans, including the mausoleums of Jochi Khan and Zhuzden. Cosmonauts Boulevard is especially interesting. Since many cameras were installed in the Zhezkazgan area, astronauts from space traditionally settled on Pine Boulevard, so they were evacuated. Zhezkazgan reminds of the "cosmic" tradition, as well as the "Cosmos" stele and Y. Gagarin's panel in one of the houses.

The city has art buildings, monuments and monuments of the 40-50s (metallurgists, Abylai Khan, etc.), parks and squares, a theater. Palace of Sports, swimming pool, Kengir reservoir, city markets, etc.

Many are interested in the unique nature of the Ulytau mountains. This is where the 15th century thanks to the founders of the Kazakh khanate Zhanibek and Kerey, Ulytau is considered a "sacred land" and "the cradle of the Kazakh people." Here you can often find ancient cemeteries, mazars or balbals (monuments to ancestors).

There is 1 university in the city, where 1 foreign student is studying.
