Taraz

Taraz (Zhambyl in Soviet times) - is one of the oldest cities in Kazakhstan, the administrative center of the Zhambyl region. It is located in the south of the country, near the border with Kyrgyzstan, on the Talas River. The population of the city is 425,959 people.

Taraz is located in the bowels of the Eurasian continent at the junction of ash deserts and snowy mountains, primarily due to the harsh continental climate and abundance of heat.

BC. Founded in the 7th-8th centuries, Taraz is one of the main stages of the Great Silk Road. Today it is a modern beautiful city with churches and mosques, as well as many historical and modern sites that are the sights of the city. These are the mausoleum of Aisha Bibi, the mausoleum of Karakhan, the mausoleum of Babaji Khatun, the architectural complex "Tekturmas", the city of Merke and others.
